"None of My Business"                                                                                                                     (perkins/turner)
                                                                                            ...
"The way that I'm dressin' and don't comb my hair
gives the impression that I just don't care
but I dress like I want to and play my banjo
and make myself welcomed wherever I go

I spent time in prison and a few nights in jail
pulled time with some people that seemed like pure hell

                           ( the banjo plays here....)
There aint nothing in this world that I couldn't do
'cept save any money or spend time with you
I'm sad since you left me left me all alone
and it'd only get worse now if you came back home

Been eatin wild mushrooms took pot and cocaine
I drunk so much whiskey I forgot my own name

A burden I've been to you all of my life
I'm bound for Stokes County to take me a wife
so if you don't like me then just let me be
it ain't none of my business what you think of me.......

"Well of course this song is right out of the diary of a very obtuse rebellious young man that is in the middle of doing a bunch of stuff that he would be better off not doing, and I must admit- I made up this song from my own personal experiences....
Anybody familiar with the old time music of North Carolina will recognize the melody and basic sentiments of the song as being an adaptation of a song that Tommy Jarrell used to do called "The Drunkards Hickups"  (sometimes called "Sprout Wings and Fly")
As it turns out, praise be to God, I don't drink like I did when I made up this song, I don't take pot anymore, or eat mushrooms, or do cocaine, and I DID'NT go to Stokes County to take me a wife(whew weeee)...and I would like very much to make it my business what you think about me- but I'd appreciate it if we could keep it civil and somewhat constructive...."
